The Congress Working Committee (CWC) met Friday to discuss the party’s recent election performance in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and Haryana. The upcoming Delhi elections and strategies for the Parliament session were also on the agenda.
The meeting, chaired by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, included former chief Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal, and Jairam Ramesh.
The CWC analyzed the varied election outcomes. The party’s alliance won in Jharkhand, but they faced losses in Maharashtra and Haryana. Preparations for upcoming elections in Delhi and Bihar, including potential alliances, were a key focus.
Parliamentary strategy was another topic. The Congress intends to challenge the government on the Adani issue, a factor in the ongoing disruption of the winter session.
Separately, the Congress submitted concerns to the Election Commission about “serious and grave inconsistencies” in the Maharashtra election data, requesting a hearing to present evidence.
