Dehradun: The weather has remained dry in Uttarakhand for the last few days and there is no possibility of rain or snowfall in the coming week. According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center based in Dehradun, at present there is not much impact of western disturbance in the state. This is the reason that the sky will remain clear from the mountains to the plains. However, the cold has started increasing in the morning and evening.

In the plains of Uttarakhand, the minimum temperature has been recorded at 8-9 degrees Celsius and the maximum has been recorded at 25-26 degrees Celsius. At the same time, in the hilly areas the minimum temperature has been recorded at 4-5 degrees and the maximum has been recorded at 15-16 degrees Celsius. Despite the drop in temperature, we will still have to wait for snowfall.

When will it snow in Uttarakhand?
According to the Meteorological Department, western disturbance may become active in Uttarakhand around December 15, due to which there will be a possibility of snowfall in the hilly areas. Director Bikram Singh said that at present the effect of western disturbance is visible in Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. In Uttarakhand, its effect can be seen in the form of clouds between 1-2 December, but the possibility of rain or snowfall is less.

Decline in rain…direct impact on snowfall
At present, there has been a shortage of rain, which has a direct impact on snowfall. According to weather experts, cold and snowfall will intensify only when there is good rainfall. In the months of January and February, the effect of cold is greater and the temperature reaches its lowest level.

Tourists will have to wait
Uttarakhand is famous across the country for its snowy valleys. Every year a large number of tourists come to enjoy snowfall. However, for now they will have to wait. It is expected that after the second week of December, there may be a blanket of snow in the higher reaches of the state. The weather of Uttarakhand will remain dry till the coming week.
