Married Men Age Slower Than Singles: It is often said that single people are happier and they live their lives freely. Because of this, we feel young for a long time, but a new research has revealed a surprising thing. It has been found that single men grow old quickly, whereas the aging process of married men is slower than that of singles. In simple language, unmarried people age early, whereas married men remain young for a long time. However, this is only in the case of men and such changes do not occur in women.
New York Post Report according to Recent studies have revealed that the age of married men increases slower than that of single men. This study has been published in the International Social Work Journal. In this, scientists studied the health and quality of life of adults aged 45 to 85 years for 20 years. Their objective was to know what effect marriage has on health and whether married people age successfully or not. In this research, evaluation was done keeping in mind things like physical health, mental health, social life and self-perception regarding age.
In this research it was found that married men are successful in aging better than their never married friends. However, this happens only if they remain married throughout their life. If their marriage breaks up or their partner dies, it has a negative impact on their aging process. At the same time, married women and never married women were almost similar in terms of ageing. Women who were married but then divorced or widowed were more distressed than their married and unmarried counterparts.
According to scientists, women are often happier living alone, whereas it is difficult for men. In another study it was found that women are more satisfied living alone and have less need for romantic relationships. Apart from this, women are more satisfied with their sex life. Experts believe that women get more support from their friends and family, whereas in marriage they have to be involved in household chores. After marriage, women may have to ignore their sexual satisfaction.
Many researches have shown that married people are healthier than those who live alone. In a recent report published by the World Health Organization, it was reported that marriage reduces the mortality rate of women by one third. Apart from this, another study in Nature Human Behavior journal found that single people suffer more from mental problems than married people. It was also revealed that unmarried people are 79% more likely to suffer from depression than married people. This risk increases to 64% in widowed women and 99% in divorced women.
