Haldwani: Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras are being installed in Uttarakhand. In this sequence, cameras will be installed at four places in Haldwani and its surrounding areas. The specialty of ANPR camera is that through this camera the challan of the driver is issued and the information is received on the phone. ANPR cameras are being installed to make the traffic system more alert in and around the city. These cameras will be installed near Belbaba Temple on Rampur Road, Haldu Chaud Police Post on Bareilly Road, Lamachaud on Kaladhungi Road, Forest Outpost and Nayagaon. ANPR camera will also be installed in Amdanda in Ramnagar.
Camera will work even in bad weather
According to the information received from the Transport Department, these cameras can identify the number plate of the vehicle even in low light or bad weather. Can take photo of the vehicle. The cameras’ software identifies the number written on the license plate. If the driver is violating traffic rules, the software present inside the camera identifies it and issues a challan to him.
The place to install the camera has been marked.
RTO Enforcement Gurudev Singh of the Divisional Transport Office said that the place for installing the cameras has been identified and approval has also been given for the place. The Transport Department is applying to the Energy Corporation office to connect electricity to the ANPR camera, after which the work will start.
Currently cameras are being installed in the plain districts
Plains districts in Uttarakhand have been identified for installation of ANPR cameras. Cameras are being installed in Dehradun, Nainital, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts. According to Joint Transport Commissioner Sanat Kumar Singh, ANPR cameras will be installed at 21 places in these four districts of Uttarakhand.

Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras are cameras that read and digitize vehicle number plates in real time. All these included cameras can do the entire detection/recording/processing/communication process on their own without any server or trigger. These can send compact digital data instead of bulky videos/images.
