Dehradun: The doors of Chardham of Uttarakhand are closed for winter in November. In view of this, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced to take concrete steps to promote winter Chardham Yatra. Through this journey, not only will the devotees get an opportunity to visit the winter migration places of Chardham, but the local people will also get new employment opportunities.
In a high-level meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence, CM Dhami gave instructions to start a special travel campaign for the winter destinations of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. To give wide publicity to this Yatra and attract devotees, he has talked about 10% discount on staying in the guest house of Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN).
Tourism will gain momentum with winter Chardham Yatra
Special travel campaigns at places like Omkareshwar Temple (Ukhimath), Pandukeshwar, Jyotirmath, Kharsali and Mukhba, which are among the winter migration destinations of Chardham, will boost tourism in the state. At these places, the idols of Lord Kedarnath, Badrinath, Mother Yamuna and Mother Ganga are worshiped during winter. This will give the pilgrims a spiritual experience as well as an opportunity to know the cultural diversity of Uttarakhand.
Road safety and strict measures against drugs
In the meeting, CM Dhami gave instructions to prepare special rules to control road accidents and increase night patrolling. Also, emphasis was laid on taking strict action on drug cases and making the verification campaign of outsiders more effective. To make the silver jubilee year of Devbhoomi special, CM Dhami reviewed the progress of ‘Rajatotsav Sashakt Uttarakhand Scheme’. He instructed to implement all short-term and long-term plans on time.
Winter Chardham Yatra is expected to give a new identity to religious tourism in Uttarakhand. This also provides employment to many people. The Chief Minister directed the officials to work on priority to provide better facilities to the devotees and tourists. Special care is being taken to ensure that tourists do not face any kind of problem during the journey.
