Dehradun: The biggest festival of the sports world, Khel Mahakumbh has started in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. Players from all over the state are coming here. In this, players from Gram Panchayat, Block and District level will reach. Last year, 3.25 lakh players took part in the Khel Mahakumbh, this time more players are expected to come. Not only will the players be encouraged in the Khel Mahakumbh, but this event will also be great for sports lovers as there will be outdoor and indoor games.
The winners will get this much reward
The government will give prizes worth more than Rs 11 crore to the winning players. This event will continue till 31 January. Announcing at the inauguration of the State Level Sports Mahakumbh at the Youth Welfare Directorate, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the medal winning players in the State Level Sports Mahakumbh will be given 4 percent reservation in direct recruitment posts in government jobs. Apart from this, a reward amount of about Rs 11 crore will also be given through DBT.
Good opportunity for state players
Sports kits will also be given to players participating in sports at the district level. He said that through the new sports policy, players who want to make a career in general family sports of the state will get a chance to come forward. We are making all those provisions, wherever we feel our players need us, we are always standing with them. This year Uttarakhand is going to host the 38th National Games. This is also a good opportunity for the players of the state to expose themselves.
Sports University built in Uttarakhand
Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that the government is making efforts to create a sports university in the state, which will provide professional training and assistance to the players. This will provide a conducive environment for practice at national and international levels. He said that through this university our aim is to change the perception of sports in the society and at the global level.
Will play danka in traditional games
Khel Mahakumbh will help prepare athletes for success in the National Games and encourage them to aim for excellence. The Sports Minister further said that more than 12,000 students have been selected from over 3 lakh participants and expressed hope that traditional games like Malkhamb, Pittu and Murga Jhapat will be represented at the national level. Any athlete breaking the national record will be eligible to receive a prize of Rs 1 lakh.
