Demi Moore received a lot of praise for her performance in The Substance, a body horror film she starred in with Margaret Qualley.
Demi Moore appeared as the latest guest on Hot Ones, fearlessly taking on the spicy wings challenge while engaging in a candid conversation with host Sean Evans about her new film, The Substance, and more. When asked about her earlier remarks describing the project as either “something extraordinary or an absolute disaster,” Moore elaborated, explaining that the film felt like a risk worth taking. In the body-horror thriller, Moore plays Elisabeth, starring alongside Margaret Qualley’s Sue.
During the conversation, the G.I. Jane actress also echoed similar sentiments for her 1990 film Ghost, adding, “I felt this way about Ghost because it had so many different genres mixed together. I thought, ‘This could either be amazing or a f**king disaster.’ Either way, it’s usually the kind of juice that says, ‘Step in. Take the risk. Roll the dice. Let’s see what happens.”
It is worth mentioning Demi Moor’s risk actually paid off, with Ghost emerging as a massive box office that collected over $500 million worldwide, enjoying a cult status among audiences. Elsewhere in the conversation, the actress also revealed how the script got her very “scared,” further elaborating more on the emotional impact of Ghost.
“To be such a young woman person dealing with the loss of your partner, in reading the script, I got so overwhelmed at the kind of grief that I was about going to tap into,” she said. Moore also recalled her status as an “iconic crier” and continued, “I didn’t plan that, I have no control over that, that’s just how it happened. But that film kind of helped me get over a hurdle of my own.”
