Nainital. In Nainital city of Uttarakhand, it is mandatory to register for keeping dogs of restricted breed. In Nainital, even after running a campaign by the municipality, people are not getting the dogs of banned breed registered in the municipal area. People are keeping banned breed dogs at home without registration. At the same time, a survey is being conducted by the municipality for the registration of dogs of restricted breed and the dogs reared without registration are being identified and action is being taken against the dog owners. Two similar cases have come to light in the city. The municipality has issued notices to both the people.
After Nainital Municipality received complaints from the people, survey work was started in the area by the Municipality. After which pitbulls and American Bulldogs of banned breed were found in the house of two people in Awagarh and Mallital areas of the city. The owners of both the animals had not registered their dogs.
Owners will have to pay challan
EO Deepak Goswami of Nainital Municipality said that notice has been issued to two people resident of Mallital and Aavagarh for keeping dogs of banned breed, in which both of them have to deposit the challan in the municipality along with sterilization of dogs, rabies vaccination along with an oath. Instructions have been given to deliver the letter. EO Goswami said that the municipality is conducting a survey to check the registration documents of pet dogs being kept in people’s homes in the city and to identify dogs of banned breeds. A fine of up to Rs 5,000 will be imposed for keeping a dog without registration. He has appealed to the people to cooperate in getting their pet dogs registered so that security arrangements can be ensured in the city. Legal action will be taken against those who do not do so.
