The Labor Department is running many schemes to provide facilities to the workers. The benefits of these schemes are available only to those workers who are registered with the Labor Department. There are around three lakh MNREGA cardholders in 899 gram panchayats of the district. Of these, only about 1.5 lakh are active. Out of these, only 20 thousand have been registered in the Labor Department. In such a situation, the department is now preparing to register more and more workers.
This will help them in case of an accident. According to the Labor Department, in case of death of workers due to illness or any other reason, an assistance of Rs 2.25 lakh will be provided by the government. Most of the workers are not registering themselves in the Labor Department due to lack of information, although a minimum fee has been kept for this. For this, registration fee of Rs 20 and renewal fee of Rs 20 has been fixed.
Registration can be done at public service center Workers can register themselves for one or three years. There is also a facility to educate the children of registered workers under the Education Incentive Assistance Scheme. Deputy Commissioner Raj Bahadur Yadav said that along with MNREGA workers, any construction worker can go to any public service center and get themselves registered with the department. In case of an accident, the benefits under the scheme will be given after investigation.
