CHANDIGARH: Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Monday administered oath to three AAP MLAs, who were elected in the recently concluded bypolls in the state. The Aam Aadmi Party wrested the Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, and Chabbewal Assembly segments, while the Congress won the Barnala seat in the November 20 bypolls.
Sandhwan administered oath to AAP MLAs Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon (Gidderbaha), Ishank Chabbewal (Chabbewal) and Gurdeep Singh Randhawa (Dera Baba Nanak).
On this occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP’s Punjab unit chief Aman Arora were also present.
AAP now has 94 seats and the Congress 16 in the 117-member Assembly. The Shiromani Akali Dal has three MLAs, the BJP two, and the Bahujan Samaj Party one. One seat is held by an Independent.
The bypolls, which took place on November 20, were necessitated after the incumbent legislators were elected to the Lok Sabha earlier this year.
