In a decision that surprised many, outgoing president Joe Biden Sunday said he has pardoned his son Hunter who was facing sentencing this month for federal tax and gun convictions. This is a decision that cannot be rescinded by incoming president Donald Trump. “Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter,” the president said in a statement. It is a “full and unconditional pardon,” according to a copy of the executive grant of clemency. This is a stark departure from what Biden and the White House maintained time and again he would not extend a presidential pardon to Hunter.
But DOGE co-chief Vivek Ramaswamy was certain that the trial was a smokescreen and that the president was ultimately going to pardon his son. In June when Biden was convicted of three federal firearms-related felony charges after he admitted to illegally owning a gun and being a drug user, Vivek Ramaswamy made his prediction that it was just a farce.
Ramaswamy was accurate in predicting the time also — “before Joe Biden leaves the White House”.
Here’s what Ramaswamy predicted:
“The Hunter Biden trial is a smoke screen. It’s designed to make the prosecution of Trump appear nonpartisan, yet the outcome of the Hunter trial doesn’t matter because Joe Biden can & will pardon him. The trial’s timing is no coincidence: right after the Trump conviction, but set to finish before Joe Biden leaves the White House.”
Biden, as the president, had the authority to stop the probe or ask the Justice Department to dismiss the charges, but he stayed out of it indicating that he would do so in future as well.
What did Joe Biden’s son do?
Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden was convicted of illegally buying and possessing a gun as a drug user. The other offence to which he pleaded guilty was nine tax offences. He didn’t pay taxes while spending lavishly on escorts, strippers, cars and drugs.
