Bageshwar: In many hilly areas like Bageshwar of Uttarakhand, students often find Math subject difficult. To teach such subjects in easy language, many competitions are organized in Bageshwar Diet. Similarly, an abacus competition was organized in Bageshwar Diet to teach math to primary students through games. While talking exclusively to Local 18, program coordinator Bhairav Pandey said that Abacus competition plays an important role in understanding math calculations and their puzzles in a simple way. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the students regarding these competitions.
Competition in diet
District level Abacus competition based on mathematical education was held today in District Education and Training Institute (DIET) in Bageshwar. In this, 45 students from primary schools across the district participated. These students had to answer 60 questions in 25 minutes in the competition. Out of these, two students have been selected for the state level competition. In the competition, students answered questions using abacus, which was like an interesting game for them. To solve this, students use their brain fully. Such competitions will play an important role in shaping their future.

Teacher Payal Joshi, who took students from Pinglo School to the competition, said that such competitions bring students closer to Maths. Abacus is a better option to learn and teach math by playing. With its help it helps in making the Math subject interesting. Such programs should be organized from time to time in schools and districts so that students do not find Math subject a burden and they get ready to learn it happily.
Abacus makes math easier
Program coordinator Bhairav Pandey said that the Abacus competition presents mathematical calculations and their puzzles in a simple manner. Children can learn math subjects faster by playing. The participants who get first place in this competition will now participate in the state level competition. By learning Math playfully using the method of Abacus, the student’s perception towards the subject changes and instead of considering Math as difficult, they start learning it easily.
