Dehradun. You must have heard many stories of the mountains of Uttarakhand. Author Gajendra Nautiyal has written a book by compiling 11 folk tales of mountain villages, whose name is ‘Char Rekhada’. Char Rekha means four lines of life. In this book, he has depicted the environment, culture and atmosphere of the village, especially what he has seen in his village. After researching for the last 40 years, he has compiled his stories. On Monday, Char Rekhda Katha-Kathguli, a collection of 11 stories, was released.
Giving information to Local 18, writer and playwright Gajendra Nautiyal from Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, said that today’s generation does not know Rekhda because it is not mentioned today. He has tried to survive it. Although there are 11 stories in this book, but the lead story in it depicts casteism and untouchability in old times. In this story there is an OG, who plays drums. He thinks of doing something big by crossing all boundaries and limitations. He wants to marry like rich people. He fights with the society and breaks the lines created by the upper class people in the society.
Poignant story depicting change in society
He further said that this is a poignant story, which reflects the change in the society. In his stories that cover his time and place minutely, his stories seem to express anger at the social attitude towards the craftsman society. Regarding the book, litterateur Bina Benjwal said that beautiful images depicting the plot of a typical village, characters of a typical village and a beautiful combination of many linguistically extinct words and idioms are present in all the stories of this book, which makes this collection special. Makes it more interesting.
Garhwali language brings interest in stories
The stories reflecting the Garhwali folk society have been written in Garhwali language. Litterateur Dr. Atul Sharma said that the stories of Gajendra Nautiyal, who is associated with social concerns, connect with the society with deep feelings. In this, the picture of the society has been depicted very well in ‘Satru Beda’. The book presents a realistic view of folk society, which will prove to be a successful attempt to give a new direction to folk literature and society.
