Srinagar Garhwal: Uttarakhand has given many great writers to the Hindi literary world, who have set records in the Hindi literary world through their works. One such litterateur is Dr. Arun Dhoundiyal, resident of Dhoundiyalsaun of Pauri district, who raises the public life and issues of Uttarakhand through his literature. As a litterateur, he not only writes novels and story collections but has also been working continuously in the field of society and education for many years.
How did the journey begin?
His journey started as an assistant teacher from the government school of Pauri itself. After that, he served in many important positions including lecturer, principal in a government school and gazetted officer in the Delhi government through the Union Public Service Commission. Also, till now 40 of his books, 4 short researches and more than 100 story collections have been published. He has been honored with 14 national and international awards in the field of writing.
Dr. Arun Dhoundiyal told in a special conversation with Local 18 that he has served in various positions in the field of education in Uttarakhand for 22 years. Most of his writings are focused on Uttarakhand and Uttarakhand is mostly mentioned in his works.
The very first novel created discussion
Dr. Dhoundiyal said that his very first novel ‘Adhure Log’ remained in the news. Which people saw and read through serials and magazines. He wrote ‘Incomplete People’ for the people who grew up in the environment of Uttarakhand, who do not get a place in good institutions. This novel has been written specifically about admission into universities and educational institutions.
Also wrote on Baba living in temples
After ‘Adhure Log’, to tell people about the evils of the society, he wrote ‘Ek Aur Sansar’ in the context of Baba and Yoginis living in the monasteries and temples of Uttarakhand. Real characters have been taken in it, in which Shanti Mai and Chepdu Baba are mentioned. What he wrote about Shanti Mai proved to be genuine. Today Shanti Mai runs a school on the Nepal border.
