In the viral video, a woman showed how the black dal she bought from a shop in Himachal Pradesh turned green the next morning
Nature provides us with food rich in essential nutrients, from proteins to a variety of vitamins and minerals. While non-vegetarians have numerous sources of protein, vegetarians often rely on a limited number of options, with lentils being one of the primary sources.
However, a recent viral video has raised concerns about the authenticity of Himachal’s famous black lentils (dal times), leaving many worried.
In the viral video, a woman shared her shocking experience after purchasing black lentils from Himachal Pradesh. Upon soaking them in water overnight, she observed that the water turned black, and the lentils themselves changed colour, revealing a green hue beneath the black coating.
It appeared that someone had simply dyed the green moong dal black, with the colour washing away during soaking.
This adulteration is more than just fraud; it poses severe health risks. The chemical used to colour the lentils is banned due to its potential to cause cancer and other serious diseases.
Unfortunately, such adulterated products, including fake salt and sugar, are reportedly being sold in Himachal Pradesh, putting public health at risk.
