A married woman died under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday evening in village Rauhatiyapur of Sadar Kotwali area in Auraiya. The deceased has been identified as Rakhi (24), who was married to Anurag Singh Chauhan about two years ago. As soon as the police got information about the incident

The deceased’s maternal uncle Akhilesh Singh said in his complaint to the police that Rakhi’s call had come to her mother at around 7 am on Wednesday morning. On the phone, Rakhi said that her in-laws, her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law were beating her and threatening to kill her.
Rakhi had appealed to her mother to send help. When Akhilesh Singh contacted Rakhi’s husband Anurag, he said that nothing was wrong, but after some time Anurag called and said that Rakhi had died.
The maternal uncle of the deceased alleged that the in-laws had demanded Rs 2 lakh in cash and a four-wheeler. At the time of the incident, the in-laws were absconding and Rakhi’s body was found lying in the verandah outside the house. Police say that if Rakhi had committed suicide or her health had deteriorated, her in-laws would have taken her to the hospital.
CO Ajitmal Ashok Kumar and Kotwali in-charge Inspector Lalitesh Tripathi reached the spot and collected samples from the forensic team. Police have sent the body for post-mortem. The CO said that only after the post-mortem report comes, it will be clear whether the deceased committed suicide or was murdered. At present the police is investigating the matter and the in-laws are being searched.
