Sunil Pal went missing on Tuesday, prompting his wife to file a complaint at Mumbai’s Santacruz police station.
Actor-comedian Sunil Pal went “missing” on Tuesday for a few hours, leaving his family worried and tense after they failed to reach him on his phone. His wife, Sarita Pal, reached the Santacruz police station in Mumbai to file a missing complaint, stating that the comedian went for a show outside the city and was supposed to return home on Tuesday, but he didn’t show up. Sunil Pal eventually returned home and revealed that he was “kidnapped”. While Sarita Pal confirmed that her husband was kidnapped, the comedian himself has now shared details of the entire matter.
In a conversation with Zee News, Sunil Pal while assuring that he was safe and now at his home described the horrific turn of events that took place on Tuesday. Describing that he had a booking for an event on Monday, December 2, Pal claimed that he was abducted by some unidentified people after reaching Haridwar.
He shared that the kidnappers had covered his face while travelling. Later, the goons demanded money from him after travelling for one and a half hours, assuring him that they would let him go once they received the ransom.
According to Sunil Pal, the kidnappers had demanded Rs 20 lakh, following which he even enquired about how they wanted the money and the process of the money transfer. After a lot of negotiation, Pal convinced the kidnappers for only Rs 10 lakh after which they asked the comedian to contact his friends for the money. “Rs 7.5 lakhs were transferred to the kidnappers, after which they allowed me to leave at 6:30 PM,” he recalled.
Later in the conversation, the Great Indian Laughter Challenge fame also shared how the kidnappers kept him blindfolded and had masks on their faces to hide their identity. “They dropped me at Meerut Road from where Ghaziabad Metro was 15 minutes away. I was supposed to catch a flight in the evening and it was 7 PM already. After receiving money from my end, they said that they were not bad people and wanted me to return to my wife and kids. They gave me Rs 20,000 for the flight ticket and asked me to open the blindfold only after they left,” he further shared.
“It all happened within 24 hours. I was in stress and my mind was not working,” Pal added.
On the other hand, while the Santacruz police had already launched a search for the 49-year-old actor-comedian, it is yet to be seen if a formal complaint will be filed over kidnapping charges.
