These have a negative impact on the mental health of children. To prevent such cases, the Commission for Protection of Child Rights is making various efforts in which workshops are being organized to create awareness among parents, teachers and students. Apart from this, schools are being inspected from time to time.

In these, students will write letters against the misbehavior happening to them. In this way the Child Protection Commission is trying to protect childhood. While giving information to Local 18, Chairperson of Uttarakhand Child Rights Protection Commission, Dr. Geeta Khanna said that the Commission is always ready to protect the rights of children to education and security. Awareness campaigns for children are run by the Commission from time to time.
Workshop will be organized
He further informed that workshops will be organized in all the schools of the state before the winter holidays in the month of December. In this, the Commission’s team is visiting the school and conducting workshops with the principal and founders as well as the parents. While parents are being advised to be active and keep an eye on their children, information about necessary standards is being given in schools.
Continuing the conversation, Dr. Geeta said that the Education Department has been directed to form a POCSO Act Committee in every school, there should be a complaint box in every school and on receiving the complaint, the school itself should take immediate concrete action in that regard. He said that we also inspect schools from time to time and if deficiencies are found, action is taken against them with the help of the education department. Till now we have conducted workshops in districts like Dehradun, Haldwani and Pithoragarh.

Giving information, Dr. Geeta Khanna said that the Commission has given strict instructions to the school operators to install a complaint box in every school and keep checking it from time to time. Any student should send his/her complaint to the Principal through a letter. Apart from this, anyone can complain on Child Rights Protection Commission number 092581 27046 or 0135 277 5909. The Commission Chairman told that only yesterday he has resolved 3 cases after receiving complaints over phone.
