Allahabad High Court approved the bail of a convicted lawyer accused of stalking a woman judge and making indecent comments. The court gave this order while hearing the revision petition of accused lawyer Mohammad Harun of Hamirpur. Justice Ram Manohar Narai on the petition

Mohammad Harun was sentenced to four years imprisonment by the district court last year on charges of stalking a female judge and making obscene comments on her. He is in jail since July 2023. He had filed a revision petition in the High Court and demanded to be released on bail till the disposal of the petition.
The petitioner said that the prosecution has made exaggerated allegations against him. The petitioner is accused of sending any unwanted video, SMS or WhatsApp message to the complainant and chatting with him privately. He has apologized to the complainant several times. The petitioner has spent almost half of the sentence awarded to him in jail. Whereas the government lawyer opposed the petition and said that the petitioner is accused of misbehaving with the woman judge and stalking her. While approving the bail, the court said that the petitioner has spent a major part of his sentence in jail. Considering the number of cases in the High Court, there is no possibility of his petition being disposed of soon. Therefore he should be released on bail.
