Under this, farmers do not need to invest even a single penny in their fields.
made so many fields fertile
At present, about 146 hectares of barren fields have been made fertile by the department, which has benefited 317 families. Tea expert Dr. Bhupen Deka says that the government and the department are working to make the barren fields fertile. Farmers get a lot of benefit by producing tea leaves in barren fields on behalf of Uttarakhand Tea Development Board. When it is produced, 20% of it is also given to the farmers.
The department bears all the expenses
Tea expert Dr. Bhupen Deka said that the mission and vision of Uttarakhand Tea Development Board, Almora is to make the barren fields in the mountains inhabited. The department takes the vacant fields on lease. Any farmer who wants to plant tea in his field writes a letter to the department. After this the department sends the soil of their farm to the laboratory for testing. If his fields are useful for tea gardening, he takes them on lease. After which the department itself bears all the expenses.
Fields remain fertile for more than 50 years
The expert also told that if tea is grown in barren fields then its production can last for 50 to 100 years. If tea plantation is started from this year, then it starts giving crop after next 7 years. Farmers benefit greatly from this, because their fields are becoming fertile. Apart from this, those who have farms are also given 20% of the production. Tea gardening can also prevent problems like migration in future. Under this scheme, work of adding 20 to 25 hectares of new tea gardens is also done every year.
