Nainital. It is rightly said that hobby is a big thing. A boat sailing and boat making artisan from the lake city of Nainital in Uttarakhand has fulfilled his hobby. He sang a Kumaoni song, which is going viral on social media these days. A few days ago, Nainital resident boat maker Kharak Singh Chauhan (37) released a Kumaoni song of his own while pursuing his singing hobby. He went to a studio in Haldwani and recorded the song and released it on YouTube. Soon people started liking it and it went viral.
Kharak Singh Chauhan is originally a resident of Village Raja Tehsil Bhanauli of Almora district. He lives in Nainital and works in boating and boat making. Along with work, he is also fond of music. Kharak Singh told Local 18 that one day he was humming a song written by himself while working at the boat stand, after hearing which his colleagues asked him to record the song and upload it on YouTube. After which he went to Haldwani and recorded his Kumaoni song in the studio and uploaded it on YouTube. Like his colleagues, other people also liked the song. His song is available on ‘Fresh Kumaon Entertainment’ channel on YouTube. The lyrics of his song are, ‘Ud Kabootar Ja Ja Mer Chitti Li Ja De, Aali To U Bula Laaye, Na Aali Meri Chitti Di Aaye.’
Second song will come soon
Kharak Singh says that he currently supports his family through boat work. In his family he has two brothers, a sister and mother. In 1994, he left for Haryana in search of work, where he worked in a hotel for 20 years. During that time, sometimes he used to come to Nainital to row a boat, so he learned the art of boating here and made it his source of livelihood. He told that his second song will be released soon, for which all his preparations have been completed.
