Roorkee. A youth cheated the owner of a car market in Roorkee of Haridwar district of Uttarakhand and ran away with a Thar car. This incident happened at Javed’s car buying and selling shop located near Mohammadpur village of Roorkee Civil Line Kotwali area. According to the information received, Javed is a resident of Satti Mohalla. He deals in old cars. Yesterday, a young man who told his name was Sumit came to his shop with the intention of buying an old car.
While talking to Javed, Sumit asked the price of the Thar vehicle parked outside the shop. He quoted the price of Thar as Rs 14 lakh 50 thousand. After hearing the price, the young man expressed his desire to take a test drive of Thar. Javed got the car ready for test drive. For this he got a battery installed in Thar and got oil worth Rs 500 added. After handing over the car to the young man for a test drive, he took the car away. When he did not return for a long time, Javed became suspicious and started searching for Sumit. However, nothing has been found till now.
Search continues for accused youth
When Javed could not find any trace of Sumit, he reached Civil Line police station and lodged a complaint with the police. Javed told the police that the accused cheated him by making an excuse and fled with the Thar car. Understanding the seriousness of the matter, the police has immediately started investigation. Kotwali in-charge Inspector Narendra Bisht said that on the basis of the complaint, the search for the youth is going on. Police have started scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area so that the vehicle and the accused can be traced.
The car will be recovered soon
This incident remains a topic of discussion in the area. On one hand, the shopkeeper is sad about his vehicle being stolen, while on the other hand, this incident is a message of caution for other shopkeepers. Police have assured that the youth will be arrested soon and the vehicle will be recovered. This case has also shown how incidents of fraud in the name of test drives are increasing.
