Dehradun : Uttarakhand is world famous for its natural beauty and wildlife conservation. Tourists often come here to enjoy tiger safari in Rajaji and Jim Corbett National Park. But now you do not need a jungle safari to see a tiger. Two tigers brought from Dhela Rescue Center in Dehradun Zoo in February 2024 have become the new center of attraction for tourists. People are very surprised to see the tigers roaming in the enclosure.
On November 25, these tigers were displayed to the public for the first time in the enclosure. Since then, there has been a tremendous increase in the number of tourists in Dehradun Zoo. Tourists from far and wide are enjoying seeing both the tigers up close. Both these tigers were earlier in Dhela Rescue Centre. After getting permission from the Central Zoo Authority, they were displayed in Dehradun Zoo. Forest Range Officer Vinod Kumar Lingwal said that these tigers have been kept according to their natural environment, due to which they feel comfortable.
Earning of Rs 2.31 lakh in 1 day
Last Sunday (December 1), more than 3,500 tourists reached Dehradun Zoo, due to which the zoo administration earned Rs 2.31 lakh. This figure clearly shows the attraction of tigers among tourists. A female tourist who was seeing the tiger appeared very excited. He said that till now he had seen the tiger only in films. It is really amazing to see here so closely without any fear. The roar of the tigers and their movements became memorable for the tourists.
Bhola, Vikram to D2 and D5
These tigers brought to Dehradun Zoo were first named Bhola and Vikram. But after being brought to Dehradun Zoo, they are now known as D2 and D5. D stands for Dhala, where these tigers were previously imprisoned. Forest Range Officer Vinod Kumarlingwal said that special care is taken of the diet of these tigers. Both the tigers are given 9 kg meat every day, which fulfills their nutritional needs.
Dehradun Zoo becoming home to wildlife
Apart from this, there were already two elephants in Dehradun Zoo, who have been named Raja and Rani. Now with the addition of these two tigers, the attraction of the zoo has increased further. Both the tigers were brought from the Dhela range of Corbett Tiger Reserve. Dehradun Zoo has now become a great example of wildlife conservation and tourism. Tourists coming here not only enjoy the thrilling experience of tigers, but also become aware of wildlife conservation.
