TikTok almost banned in America | Ban on TikTok in America is almost certain: Federal Court asked to sell stake in parent company ByteDance, Chinese app is banned in India from 2020

The Government of India has already banned TikTok in June 2020.

It is almost certain that the Chinese short video app TikTok will be banned in America. The US Federal Court on Friday rejected the ‘free speech’ appeal of the social media platform. The court has asked TikTok to sell its parent company ByteDance’s stake by December 19, otherwise as per the decision the app will be banned in America.

The case is TikTok v. Garland, US Court of Appeals, District of Columbia Circuit (Washington). Here the Chinese app had filed a petition against the law of National Security and User Privacy. During the hearing, a bench of three judges unanimously rejected his allegation and said that no American law prevents free speech in any way.

TikTok was hoping that its arguments would be heard in the Federal Court, but with the court’s decision, TikTok’s last hope also ended. The Indian government has already banned TikTok in June 2020. At the same time, the British government has also banned it in March 2023.
