Dehradun. On the occasion of Home Guards and Civil Defense Foundation Day, a grand parade was organized at Home Guard Headquarters, Dehradun. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the parade while taking the salute. On this special occasion, CM Dhami also released the souvenir book of Home Guard and Civil Defense and provided scholarship from the relief fund to the children of two Home Guard soldiers. Appreciating the contribution of Home Guards, Chief Minister Dhami said that our Home Guard soldiers perform their duties sincerely in every situation. He said, ‘Wherever there is work, we are there. This shows the commitment and work ethic of the Home Guards.’
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made four important announcements for Home Guards, which are-
Incentive allowance in high altitude areas: Like police and SDRF personnel, Home Guard volunteers deployed at altitude above 9000 feet will get incentive allowance of Rs 200 per day.
Special Allowance to Trained Home Guards: Trained Home Guards will be given an additional incentive of Rs 100 per day on deployment with CDRF.
Uniform allowance every year: The uniform allowance given to the officers and employees of the Home Guard department every three years will now be given every year.
Increase in ex-gratia amount: The ex-gratia amount given from the welfare fund to home guards who have completed 60 years of age will be increased by Rs 50,000.
Chief Minister Dhami also highlighted the steps taken for the welfare of the soldiers.
Modern Firing Range: A modern indoor firing range is being constructed in Premnagar, where home guards will get weapons training.
CSD canteen facility: On the lines of army personnel, home guards have also been provided CSD canteen facility.
Increase in leaves: For the first time, a provision of 12 casual leaves has been made for Home Guard soldiers and maternity leave for women soldiers.
Contribution of Home Guards appreciated
CM Dhami said that Home Guards have discharged their responsibilities brilliantly in Chardham Yatra, Kanwar Yatra, Kumbh Mela and traffic management. He also assured that the state government will continue to make every possible effort for Home Guards in future. On this occasion, praising the courage and dedication of the soldiers, the Chief Minister congratulated them on their Foundation Day. The government’s commitment to the better future and welfare of Home Guards made this program even more special.
