The NYPD has released fresh photographs of the alleged killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompsonincluding one showing the masked suspect inside a taxi following the Midtown homicide.
One photograph shows the suspect looking straight at a camera whilst seemingly communicating with the driver through a partition window.
Whilst authorities confirmed the suspect took a taxi from the Central Park vicinity after the murder outside the Hilton Hotel in Midtown, they could not verify if the image was from that specific journey.
Another image, captured from vehicle footage, displays the suspect walking along the street wearing a hooded top and black down jacket.
Police sources confirmed to The Post that both photographs were taken after Thompson’s alleged murder.
The NYPD disclosed that the suspect’s recovered backpack from Central Park contained a jacket and Monopoly game currency. The murder weapon is believed to be a veterinary firearm typically used for euthanising farm animals, requiring reloading after each shot.
The bullet casings bore written words: “Depose,” “Delay,” and “Deny”, apparently referencing the 2010 publication “Delay, Deny, Defend” which criticised the health insurance sector.
Thompson was fatally shot on Wednesday outside an upmarket Midtown hotel in what police described as a “brazen, targeted attack”. Security footage captured the entire incident, showing the assailant firing three shots into Thompson’s back as he walked towards an insurance conference.
Authorities indicate the suspect travelled from Atlanta via Greyhound bus before the incident. The investigation trail suggests the suspect later entered the Port Authority bus terminal near 178th Street, potentially leaving New York City.
At a Police Athletic League holiday celebration in Harlem, Mayor Adams stated “The net is tightening” but declined to reveal whether the suspect’s identity was known to investigators. The manhunt continues into its fifth day.
