Bageshwar: Uttarakhand government is running many schemes for the common people. One of these schemes is also being run for the poor prisoners lodged in jail due to financial constraints. With the help of which the Government of India will provide financial assistance to such poor prisoners. Talking exclusively to Local 18, District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgani says that financial assistance will be provided to poor prisoners under the “Poor Prisoners Assistance Scheme” from the Government of India. Regarding this, a powerful committee has also been formed in Bageshwar district.
In the first phase, the committee will select such prisoners from the district, then with the help of the scheme they will be provided free legal aid. Besides, their bail amount will also be paid by the government. After which such prisoners will be released from jail.
Who are the poor prisoners?
Under this scheme, such prisoners will be selected who are in jail due to financial constraints. Actually, such prisoners will be included in the scheme, who are not able to pay the fine or bail amount imposed on them, due to which they have to stay in jail. Or such prisoners who have been granted bail but do not have the money to pay the fine amount.
This type of prisoners have been kept in the category of poor prisoners and they will be given the benefit of financial assistance under the scheme. At present, such prisoners are being selected in the district, who need financial assistance. By helping them, they will be taken out of jail.

This scheme has been started by the Government of India to reduce the unnecessary crowding in prisons. In which the government will pay the fine imposed on the poor prisoner and he will be released from jail. But in this, prisoners involved in POCSO Act, corruption, crimes related to women, drugs cases are not helped. Apart from this, poor prisoners of other cases will be given financial assistance under the scheme.
To provide assistance to such poor prisoners, a powerful committee has been formed at the Bageshwar district administration level. Now this team will select such prisoners in the district. After this, their case will be studied and they will be given financial assistance. District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgani has directed all the nodal officers to select such poor prisoners in the district. Soon such poor prisoners will be selected and given financial assistance.
