Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle shared its official trailer with the much-anticipated release date.
The Japanese manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge, is all set with its upcoming movie. The series revolves around Tanjiro Kamado, a teenager driven by a quest for revenge and redemption. Although after the fourth instalment of the series, the Anime franchise was expecting a sequel series, the makers announced the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle film. Now, alongside the movie’s trailer, they revealed when the much-anticipated movie will be released in the theatres.
The makers of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, a trilogy of films, announced the first part’s release in 2025. The films will be distributed by Aniplex and Toho in Japan and by Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment worldwide, excluding some Asian territories. For context, Tanjiro’s family is brutally killed by demons, with his sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, transformed into a demon. Following this, Tanjiro joins the Demon Slayer Corps, determined to find a cure for Nezuko and defeat the powerful demon king Muzan Kibutsuji.
The first film will star Natsuki Hanae, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Hiro Shimono and Akari Kitô in key roles. The trilogy was originally announced in July. The upcoming movie will end the ongoing anime adaptation of Gotoge Koyoharu’s manga. Like the previous film and series, the Infinity Castle trilogy is also directed by Haruo Sotozaki and animated at studio Ufotable. Animator Akira Matsushima donned the hat of the character designs and chief animation director.
Earlier, the makers revealed that the Infinity Castle trilogy is the final arc ending the years-long war between Demon Slayers and Demon Lord Muzan. In a press release, Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini announced, “Crunchyroll is thrilled to be able to bring this trilogy of films to fans on the big screen, and it promises to be one of the truly epic and consequential pop-cultural events of our time when it hits theatres,” as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter.
The film manga series, featuring the television series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (2019–2024), followed by films – Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Mugen Train (2020), Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba To the Swordsmith Village (2023) and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba To the Hashira Training (2024), has garnered much appreciation ever since its release. It has also won multiple accolades, including the 25th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, the 50th Japan Cartoonists Association Award, the Ridibooks Comic Award and the Da Vinci 21st Annual Book of the Year Award in 2021, among others.
