The ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, after rebel forces swept into Damascus this weekend, shattered Iran’s network of influence in the Middle East. He says that Iranians will try to open channels with the groups that are trying to control Syria, although their proximity to the Assad regime makes that a tall order.
