Gauahar Khan said that the entertainment industry has been nothing but supportive of her during her motherhood journey.
Being a working mother is not easy, while there is the pressure of returning to work and fulfilling professional duties, there is the added guilt of leaving one’s newborn at home. Recently, Gauahar Khan opened up on this phase of her life and recounted her experience of returning to shows after having her son. Gauahar welcomed her first child Zehaan with her husband Zaid Darbar in May last year.
During a conversation with Screen, Gauahar expressed that the entertainment industry has been nothing but supportive of her during her motherhood journey. She noted that she returned as a host on the reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa right after Zehaan’s birth. She said, “I am extremely grateful to filmmakers and producers who have given me the opportunity to start working immediately and living my life as I used to before.”
Having said that, Gauahar Khan admitted that no mother can escape from guilt. “ Leaving Zehaan home was like leaving a piece of my heart.” She added that initially, she found it difficult to leave him even for a few hours but it has become easier for her. She credited this to her husband. “Zaid has been nothing but supportive. He is either there with him or I am. I even take him with me to shoots sometimes,” she said. She also mentioned that her son is growing to understand things, and she tries to pick work as per the needs of her baby.
Meanwhile, Gauahar is set to carry forward the legacy of Shah Rukh Khan’s Fauji by starring in the sequel to the show. While promoting the show at IFFI 2024 in Goa, with the entire team, she expressed, “It is an honour. It is all extremely humbling and very exciting.” Featuring Vicky Jain and Gauahar Khan in the lead roles, the series premiered on DD National on November 18, 2024.
The actress further expressed her desire to work with Shah Rukh Khan one day. Talking about her experience while shooting for the show, she said that the on-ground drills are real, making them feel they have really enlisted for the Army.
