Kamya Panjabi is winning hearts for her role of Mohini in Ishq Jabariya. The show stars Lakshay Khurana and Siddhi Sharma in the lead. Popular for not mincing words when reflecting on various aspects of the film industry, Kamya recently shared her opinion on shortcuts to success. The television actress does not believe in flattering and believes in hard work instead of opting for shortcuts, as she shared in a recent interaction. During the conversation, Kamya also advocated for authenticity saying that it creates a lasting impact.
Highlighting her journey in a candid interview with ETimes, Kamya Punjabi said, “I’ve never been into flattering or buttering up people to get ahead in life. Sometimes I joke that if I had done it, maybe I’d be in a different place today or achieved success earlier. But honestly, it’s not something I know how to do, nor do I think it’s in me. People often try to stay in someone’s “good books” for opportunities, and I think every production or channel may have its own groups or preferences. However, I’ve never been part of any gang or inner circle. For me, the focus has always been on my work. I believe in letting my performance speak for itself.”
In the same interview, Kamya Punjabi also reflected on her dedication to her craft as she revealed, “Even after 20 years, I put in 12 hours on set, and I don’t allow any dupe to replace me in my scenes. I feel it’s my responsibility to give my all, no matter what. I don’t compromise or take shortcuts, and I strive to bring something fresh and out of the box to every character I play.” Concluding, she noted that hard work and authenticity when performing on sets create a lasting impact.
When asked whether she has a message for aspiring actors, Kamya Punjabi advised that delivering what is needed for a role is the only way to bag the opportunities. Adding further, she also emphasized the importance of focusing on skills, craft and ability to adapt and perform.
Speaking of her show Ishq Jabariya, Kamya Punjabi portrays the protagonist’s aunt. The storyline of the daily soap revolves around the life of Gulki, played by Siddhi. Gulki is an ambitious woman battling obstacles on her journey to love and self-discovery.
Throughout her career, Kamya Punjabi has been a part of several hit shows like Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, Sanjog and Doli Armaano Ki. She also appeared in Bigg Boss 7.
