The Kapoor family will celebrate the legendary actor Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary in a grand manner with a film festival.
The Kapoor family is all set to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary Raj Kapoor. To mark the special occasion, family members of the Kapoor clan even headed to the national capital to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to join the celebrations. Several videos of the Kapoor family members have surfaced on the internet, showing them at the airport as they took a flight to Delhi, all dressed in ethnic traditional attire for the occasion.
While Ranbir and Alia were spotted arriving together, they were later followed by the likes of Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Neetu Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor.
Raj Kapoor Film Festival
It is worth mentioning that RK Films, along with the Film Heritage Foundation and NFDC-National Film Archive of India, have also come together to organise special screenings of Raj Kapoor’s iconic movies. Titled ‘Raj Kapoor 100 – Celebrating the Centenary of the Greatest Showman’, the screenings will take place across PVR-Inox and Cinepolis in 40 cities and 135 venues in India, beginning from December 13 to December 15.
Speaking at the 55th International Film Festival of India in Goa, actor Ranbir Kapoor spoke about Raj Kapoor’s legacy, further sharing how the family aims to pay tribute to their roots through the Raj Kapoor Film Festival. “We are going to organise the Raj Kapoor Film Festival from December 13 to December 15 all over India. I hope you guys come as well. I remember the first time I met Alia, she asked me ‘Who’s Kishore Kumar?’ It’s just a circle of life, people are forgotten. It’s important we remember our roots,” he shared.
Later in an Instagram post, Kareena Kapoor Khan also paid a tribute to her late grandfather. “His legacy lives on. We are so proud to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of my grandfather, India’s Greatest Showman, Raj Kapoor. Join us from Dec 13-15, 2024, on a nostalgic journey through his most iconic films, screening in 40 cities and 135 cinemas,” she wrote.
Remembered for his work in films like Awaara, Sangam, Shree 420 and Mera Naam Joker, Raj Kapoor remains a renowned figure in the Indian film industry. Besides being honoured with prestigious awards like the Dadasaheb Phalke and Padma Bhushan, his movies even competed on the global platform. As a part of his 10th birth anniversary, the upcoming festival will screen some of the best-known films like Barsaat, Shree 420, Awaara, Jagte Raho, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, Mera Naam Joker, Bobby and Ram Teri Ganga Maili.
