Zomato’s quick-commerce subsidiary Blinkit has launched ‘Bistro’. Through this platform, the company is promising to deliver snacks, meals and beverages within 10 minutes. This is part of Zomato’s strategy to capture the rapidly growing food delivery market.
A day earlier, Zomato’s rival Zepto had unveiled Zepto Café. According to media reports, currently Bistro is available on Google Play Store. There are plans to bring it to Apple App Store also in future.
This is Zomato’s second such effort in the instant food and grocery delivery segment. According to the report, earlier Zomato had launched Zomato Instant, which was later discontinued.

Blinkit, Zomato’s quick-commerce grocery subsidiary, launched its new app Bistro on Google Play Store on December 6, 2024. The app is designed to deliver snacks, meals and beverages in just 10 minutes.
This app of Zomato has come in the instant food delivery segment after Swiggy’s Swiggy Bolt and Zepto’s Zepto Cafe. Currently, all these apps do not sell proper meals, but sell ready-made food items and snacks like samosas, sandwiches, coffee, pastries and other items.
Food delivery market to generate revenue of ₹3.71 lakh crore in 2024
According to data and business intelligence platform Statista, the online food delivery market in India is expected to generate revenue of $ 43.78 billion i.e. Rs 3.71 lakh crore in 2024. It is estimated to grow at an annual rate of 15.61% from 2024 to 2029, taking the market size to $90.43 billion i.e. Rs 7.66 lakh crore by 2029.
The grocery delivery sector is expected to see growth in India. This sector may see a growth of 30.7% in revenue in 2025. The market size for this sector is estimated to reach $30.65 billion i.e. Rs 2.59 lakh crore by the end of 2024.
