Champawat: Even today, many minerals are found underground in many hilly areas of Uttarakhand, one such news has come out from Ladhiaghati in Champawat district. Where in the first phase geological survey conducted by scientists, there is a possibility of presence of good quantity of copper and other important minerals in the valley. Assistant Geologist Dr. Harish Bisht, leader of the survey team, told Local 18 that in the samples taken in the first phase of the survey, abundant amount of copper metal ore ‘Ormetakite’ was found in the valley. Due to this, there is a possibility of adequate quantity of copper mines at underground level in the area. During the survey, the team selected several places and rocks in the area and surveyed them one by one. Finally, the possibility of copper and other minerals being found in Ladhiaghati of the district was expressed. Samples have been sent to the laboratory to confirm this. This will be confirmed after the investigation report comes.
Possibility of copper in survey
The survey team has explored the possibilities of reserves of copper and other minerals by conducting survey campaigns at various places in Ladhiya Valley. In a survey conducted about four decades ago in the valley, the presence of reserves of uranium and diesel along with copper was confirmed, but due to some reasons the work of its exploration could not be carried forward. Now the good news is that this time the survey has shown a reasonable possibility of having copper reserves. Regarding the possibility of various minerals in the area, samples are being sent to the departmental laboratory as well as the Survey of India laboratory for testing. The second phase of work will be started in the laboratory to confirm the presence of various minerals and copper.
PMO had taken cognizance of the survey
Emphasis was placed on the PMO office to conduct a survey for copper and other minerals in the Ladhiaghati area of Champawat district. People of the area were continuously corresponding with the PMO in this regard. After which the office took cognizance of it, and the district administration was given instructions for the survey. District Magistrate Navneet Pandey said that instructions were received from the PMO for the survey, but due to the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections, the work could not start, but now the survey work has been completed.
