Om effort/ Haridwar. Among the 12 months of the Hindu calendar, the month of Margashirsha is considered to be most dear to Lord Vishnu and provides special results. According to Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta, Margashirsha month is the best time to destroy the sins of all the devotees and provide salvation. While worshiping Lord Vishnu in this month is beneficial, Lord Shiva also gives the boon of salvation. Worshiping Lord Vishnu and Bholenath on the day of Margashirsha Purnima gives manifold results. On the day of full moon, the religious ritual is prescribed to chant the mantras of Lord Vishnu.

Haridwar’s astrologer Pandit Shridhar Shastri told that Lord Vishnu loves the month of Margashirsha more. On the day of Margashirsha Purnima, by worshiping Lord Vishnu, fasting, worshipping, religious rituals etc. for him, all sins are eradicated and salvation is attained. Among all the 12 Purnima, Margashirsha Purnima is said to have the most importance because this entire month is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In this month, thousands of years ago, Shri Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu endowed with all the arts, had given the teachings of Geeta to Arjuna on the land of Kurukshetra. So Mahashakti Devi Ekadashi was also born in this month. Ekadashi fast in Margashirsha month is said to be most fruitful and provides salvation. Chanting the mantras of Lord Vishnu, Vishnu Sahasranama, Vedic mantras and Beej Mantra on the day of Margashirsha Purnima is most fruitful. By doing all these, Lord Vishnu becomes pleased and blesses him to attain salvation.

Similarly, in the month of Margashirsha, Trayodashi date of Krishna Paksha and Shukla Paksha has the most importance for Lord Vishnu as well as Bholenath. On this day, Bholenath is pleased with the devotees and bestows blessings of long life and the fear of untimely death, untimely death and all sins are destroyed. By fasting on Trayodashi Tithi in the month of Margashirsha, worshiping Lord Shiva and performing religious rituals as per the rituals, the doors of salvation open and the bondage of birth and death is cut. Pandit Shridhar Shastri explains that if the stotras, mantras etc. of Lord Shiva are chanted on the full moon day of Margashirsha month, then there is a religious belief that one will get special benefits.
