Dehradun. The 38th National Games will be organized in Uttarakhand from 28 January 2025, in which players from all over the country will come. There will be 32 sports in it, out of which there is talk of including 4 traditional games of Uttarakhand. For the first time in the country, Green Games theme games are being organized, in which only eco-friendly medium will be adopted. Emphasis will be laid on minimizing use of plastic. The special thing is that this time the players will be awarded with medals made from e-waste.
While giving information, Uttarakhand Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that Uttarakhand will be the first state in the country, where the theme of the 38th National Games will be based on Green Games, which will make people aware of love for the environment. Uttarakhand is a state rich in lush green forests, which fascinates everyone, hence these National Games will also give the message of environmental protection. The National Games venue has been built with solar panels. In this we will use zero plastic use, food recycling, bottles collection, degradable plates glass and re-usable water bottles. Our objective is to promote carbon emission free and environment protection measures.
Players’ medals will be made from e-waste
The Sports Minister further said that so far 32 sports have been confirmed in the 38th National Games. Apart from these, inclusion of traditional games of Uttarakhand is also being considered. We are trying to work on the ’38 on 38′ formula. This means that we are making efforts to have 38 sports in the 38th National Games. About 10 thousand players from different states are expected to participate in it. The winning players will be given medals made from e-waste. He told that the 38th National Games, to be held from January 28, will be held till February 14, 2025, which is going to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At the same time, we are also emphasizing on building the first Bharat University in the state and on sports policy.
