Dehradun. Today i.e. Sunday is the last day of Uttarakhand Folk Heritage in the capital Dehradun which encompasses the culture of Uttarakhand. This two-day program organized at Baluni School located on Haridwar Road started from 14th December. In this, along with listening to the music of traditional instruments of Uttarakhand like Mashkabeen, Dhol, Damau etc., you will be able to taste the cuisine of Uttarakhand. You will also be able to enjoy the songs of the mountains from many folk artists including Gadharatna Narendra Singh Negi, Jagar Samrat Pritam Bharatwan, the king of tunes of Uttarakhand.
While giving information to Local 18, Dr. KP Joshi, organizer of Uttarakhand Folk Heritage, said that we want to keep the heritage of the mountain alive, that is why we have been organizing Uttarakhand Folk Heritage Program every year for the last decade. It has been organized at Baluni Public School located on Haridwar Bypass, where the beautiful presentation of Pahari musical instruments and folk artists is attracting people. Along with this, Garhwali, Kumaoni and Jaunsari folk dancers of Uttarakhand will also perform here. Here you will find beautiful samples of traditional costumes, dishes and handicrafts of Uttarakhand in the exhibition.
Artists were brought from every village
He said that programs of about 50 folk artists are being organized in musical evenings for two days. Here folk singers of Uttarakhand including Gadharatna Narendra Singh Negi, Jagar Samrat Pritam Bharatwan, Meena Rana, Saurabh Maithani will perform. Our aim is to convey to today’s young generation all the things that we have learned from our elders. Today children show more inclination towards western culture and western music but in our country there have been many musical instruments which have been of great importance and today’s generation does not know them because they are becoming extinct and neither are there many people who play them. are left. This is the reason why we have brought artists playing dhol, damau and bagpipes from every village of the mountain. Through this, we are making an effort to enhance the culture of Uttarakhand and bring forward the extinct musical instruments. He said that about 150 artists from Uttarakhand are performing in this program, which includes famous artists as well as emerging artists who have not been able to get the stage.
Also a great place for handicraft lovers
Dr Joshi further said that Uttarakhand Folk Heritage not only works to take theater programs to the people but it also works to promote the handicraft artists of Uttarakhand. Like every year, this year too, handicraft artists from different districts of the state have come to the program, who have made beautiful handicrafts from Pirul, wood etc. So those who want to buy them can also come here.
