As soon as the cold came, the fragrant smell of sesame seeds started wafting through the streets of Gaya. There are more than 200 such shops in Ramana Road, Station Road and Tikari Road of Gaya city, where Tilkut is being prepared from sesame, sugar and jaggery. This is the same Tilkut, which is believed to have originated from Gaya district and is famous throughout the country today. Today about 1000 people are involved in the business of Tilkut in Gaya and 5000 families are running from it. Its construction starts from 15th November, which continues till Makar Sankranti.
