A 28-year-old Louisiana man is facing charges after police say he made sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl but abandoned her in a wooded area after learning her age. The girl, from Tennessee, initially met Alexander Materne online through a video game.
The incident
On December 23, Materne drove to Tennessee and brought the girl back to his St Rose residence in Louisiana, US, according to the St Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. Police say they engaged in sexual acts at his home, at which point the girl disclosed her age, according to a New York Post report.
Materne then provided the girl with a tent, food, and water and left her in a wooded area in Tangipahoa Parish, according to authorities. He then reportedly went to celebrate Christmas with his family.
The girl’s family, concerned about her extended absence, learned of her relationship with Materne and contacted his family members. They were able to connect with individuals at Materne’s Christmas gathering.
Police rescue girl
Sheriff’s deputies interrupted the family Christmas gathering and compelled Materne to reveal the location where he had dropped off the young girl. They subsequently located the girl with Materne’s help. She was found in good health and transported to a hospital for evaluation.
Charges on Materne
Materne was arrested and charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile and aggravated Kidnapping of a child.
