A concert was organized in Lucknow in memory of ghazal singer Begum Akhtar. On Tuesday night, Mumbai’s famous singer Gayatri Ashokan enthralled the audience by singing ghazal and thumri at the Sangeet Natak Academy premises.

The program was started by the President of the Academy, Prof. Jayant Khot, Vice President Vibha Singh did it. During this, chief guest Mayor Sushma Kharkwal and special guest Dr. Devendra Kumar Tripathi were present.
Audience mesmerized by singing
In the programme, Gayatri Ashokan mesmerized the audience by singing the ghazals of Shakeel Badayuni. He presented ghazals like ‘Mere Hamnafas Mere Hamnawaz’, ‘Suna hai log usse aankh bhar ke dekhte hain’ in a unique style.
Singer Jajim Sharma recited the ghazals sung by Jagjit Singh in the programme.
After this, singer Jajim Sharma presented ghazals like ‘Mohabbat Tere Anjaam Par Rona Aaya’, ‘Yaad Aaya Tha Bichhadna Tera’ in his voice. Along with this, he won the applause of the audience by presenting the famous ghazal ‘Chupke Chupke Raat Din, Aansoo Bahana Yaad Hai’.
Accompanists honored
Principal Secretary of Culture Department Mukesh Meshram honored the artists.
At the end of the program, Gayatri Ashokan, Jajim Sharma and all the accompanists were honored by Mukesh Meshram, President of the Academy and Principal Secretary of the Culture Department. The Academy Director expressed his gratitude to all the guests and audience.
On this occasion, a large number of people including JP Singh, advisor to the Culture and Tourism Department, were present. Alka Nividhan conducted the program.
